I had my first drink when I was in high school. My friends asked me to to go out with them. They said we’d go out to a club I was nervous. I hadn’t been to a club before.
I didn’t want my friends to think badly of me. So I decided to go. At the club, everyone was having so much fun. I wanted to be like them. I wanted to fit in with this crowd.
The guys ordered some beer and they started drinking. One of them bought me a beer, and a sweet, creamy shot. It felt so nice to sip the beer and then sip the sweet chocolate drink.
I don't even remember how I got home that night. I just woke up in the corridor of my house. After that, I started drinking beer like no man's business. I now drink hard drinks too like whisky or vodka. Anything I can sneak from my parents.
It’s hard to have just one drink. One never feels like enough. I always drink until I’m drunk. Sometimes I even black out and my friends have to tell me what happened.
I know what I’m doing isn’t good. But I don’t know how to stop.
If you cannot control the urge to drink, or regularly drink too much, then you may be addicted to alcohol. Speak to an adult you can trust - like a pastor, teacher or even your parents. Look for a support group in your area like Alcoholics Anonymous. Break your addiction so that it doesn’t mess with your future.
